The ceuthostoma are a plant genus in the family of casuarinaceae (Casuarinaceae) from the order of the book-like (Fagales).

features

The individual, photosynthetically active twigs of the Ceuthostoma trees each have four small leaflets and no visible stomata . The fruit stands on green branches and have protruding bracts . The bracts of the single flowers are oriented forward and have no extensions on the back. The fruits are brownish wing nuts.

Occurrence

The recent species of the genus occur from Malaysia to New Guinea . Fossil finds are also from New Zealand and South America.

The genus includes two types:

  • Ceuthostoma palawanense L.ASJohnson : It is only found in the Philippines.
  • Ceuthostoma terminale L.ASJohnson : It occurs only in northern Borneo and northern New Guinea.
