Château du Mirail
The Château du Mirail in Brouqueyran , a French commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was originally built in the 17th century and remodeled in the 19th century. The chapel of the castle has been on the list of architectural monuments in France as a Monument historique since 1990 .
history
The Lords of Mirail have been handed down from the 13th century. In 1348 Jean de la Tour, landlord of Brouqueyran, received permission from the English king to build a fortified structure. In the 16th century, the Larroque family had a four-tower castle built, which was enlarged in the 17th century. During the revolution the castle was looted and in 1793 the spiers were removed. Many historical pieces of equipment such as wall paneling, chimneys and overhangs are still preserved in the castle .
chapel
The baroque palace chapel in an outbuilding has wall coverings and murals from the 17th century and an altarpiece from the time it was built.
