Chérie (* 1979 as Patricia Peters ) is a singer / composer and visual artist. Their main project is the electronic punk band "Warren Suicide". She is a co-founder and member as a singer in the orchestra The String Theory .

Life

Born in 1979, Chérie grew up in the north of Luxembourg , where she played in the “Harmonie Union Trois-Vierges” orchestra. In 1994 she worked for a year with the photographer Hendrik Ewert before she attended the art school Lycée Technique des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg City from 1995-2000 in the field of visual arts and design. 1997–1999 she worked in the summer as an assistant director and set designer for film shoots, in the painting studio of the psychiatric clinic in Ettelbrück and in the art studio for people with special skills in the “Coopérations” in Wiltz. Singer of the Luxembourg band "Low Density Corporation".

In summer 2000 she moved to Berlin , where she initially worked as a freelance artist in the fields of photography, painting and graphic design. In 2001 she produced a solo album in French that remained unreleased.

As a singer and lyricist, she published songs from 2002–2003 under the project names “Zero Noel” and “Bob Harz” and contributed songs for the films “Klaustrophobie” and Learn to lie down (film) . She produced live visuals and video installations for various dance performances, including a pieces by Hans-Werner Klohe in the Sophiensaele and Dock 11 , Berlin in 2003 and 2004.

In 2002, Chérie and her partner, musician / composer / producer PC Nackt, founded the electro-punk band “Warren Suicide” and “Chez Chérie”, a studio loft for music and art based in Berlin / Neukölln.

Through the combination of worldwide concerts / projects by the band and a studio / studio for musicians, painters, filmmakers etc. in the middle of Berlin, an international network was created with the “Chez Chérie” as the central place for encounter and experimentation. Well over 100 albums were recorded here - in addition to many Moses Schneider works (e.g. Tocotronic, Beatsteaks, Dendemann), also those produced by PC Nackt (e.g. Apparat, Hans Unstern and Dieter Meier).

The main project of the studio collective around PC Nackt is the Berlin String Theory initiative, which was launched in 2007 and followed in 2010 by the Göteborg String Theory - an orchestral project with a large number of participants from Germany as well as Swedish musicians and artists. So Chérie toured as a singer together with José Gonzales and String Theory through sold-out concert halls in Europe.

Chérie produced live visuals, including a. for the band in July 2007 ("November"), and from 2008 to 2013 for various string theory projects (New Year's Concert Volksbühne , Koncerthuset Göteborg, Aachen String Theory, Signal X, Workshop Energeticon Alsdorf), as well as visuals and stage design for youth Theater, etc. a. “The Nutcracker” in 2010, directed by Mario Eick.

From 2004 to 2012, Chérie had exhibitions of paintings and sculptures in the street art context, many of which were collective exhibitions in Berlin. In 2009 Chérie was co-founder of the association "Chez Chérie eV" with which she a. a. In 2016, with the support of the Musicboard Berlin, organized a tribute concert to mark the twentieth anniversary of the death of the "Ton Steine ​​Scherben" singer Rio Reiser in the Neukölln home port . In 2016 she founded a choir project.
