Chūō-ku ( Japanese 中央 区 , dt. 'City District Center') is a district ( ku ) of the Japanese city ​​of Saitama .

history

As an independent city with over 90,000 inhabitants, Yono ( 与 野 市 , - shi ) was the administrative seat of Saitama Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan, until 2001 . On May 1, 2001, Yono was dissolved as a city (Shi) and merged with Urawa , Ōmiya and Iwatsuki to form the new prefecture capital Saitama.
