Minuma-ku ( Japanese 見 沼 区 ) is a district ( ku ) of the Japanese city ​​of Saitama .

history

As an independent city with over 450,000 inhabitants, Ōmiya ( 大 宮 市 , - shi ) was the administrative seat of Saitama Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan, until 2001 . On May 1, 2001 , Ōmiya was dissolved as a city (Shi) and merged with Urawa , Yono and Iwatsuki to form the new prefecture capital Saitama , in which the former city of Ōmiya forms the northern districts of Ōmiya , Kita , Nishi and Minuma.
