content

The film tells the story of the Haruno family of five who live north of Tokyo in the rural Tochigi prefecture . Hajime, a reserved teenager with a preference for Go , fights with his Puberbät and for the favor of his new classmate Aoi. His little sister Sachiko is worried about the oversized copy of herself that seems to haunt her everywhere. Yoshiko, the mother of the two, works at home as an animator of animes and is inspired by the eccentric, energetic grandfather, who also used to do this job. Nobuo Haruno, head of the family, usually works as a psychotherapist until late in the evening, although his experiences with patients often embarrass him. Uncle Ayano is visiting the Harunos to relax after a separation from his wife from his job and the big city. This is how the film tells the story of each protagonist.

Towards the end of the film, the grandfather dies and leaves each of the family members a painting pad with a personal animation that consists of individual hand-painted images. Hajime gets closer to his love and Sachiko is finally freed from her huge self; the life of the rest takes its usual course.
