Chad & Jeremy (2005)

Chad & Jeremy is a British pop rock - guitar - and vocal duo , which in the 1960s, especially in the United States was successful. The two musicians are Chad Stuart (actually David Stuart Chadwick , born December 10, 1941 in Windermere , Cumbria ) and Jeremy Clyde (actually Michael Thomas Jeremy Clyde , born March 22, 1941 in Dorney , Buckinghamshire ).

Band history

Chad and Jeremy met at the Central School of Speech and Drama , an acting school in London . Chad taught Jeremy to play the guitar, they formed their duo and next to it a rock band called The Jerks . The band soon broke up, Chad briefly went to Scotland and worked as an actor. In 1963 they met again in London. Producer John Berry discovered her performing live and signed her to the independent label Ember Records . The duo 's first single , "Yesterday's Gone" , was their only chart hit in their homeland .

In California, where they came in 1964 as part of the British Invasion , Chad & Jeremy had a better ear than in Great Britain with their stringed sound, based on the harmony of the Beach Boys and the Byrds . They received a US contract with World Artists Records , where Reparata & the Delrons also released. "Yesterday's Gone" was a hit here too, and their second single, "A Summer Song," produced by Shel Talmy , rose to # 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 . The following releases, " Willow Weep for Me " and "Before and After" , also made it into the top 20 . On the wave of success, the two moved to California . Between 1964 and 1966, the English duo brought a total of seven songs, including What Do You Want With Me (1964) and Summer Song (1966), into the US Top 40.

When the Beatles broke new ground in pop music with their Sergeant Pepper album in 1967 , Chad & Jeremy also changed their British soft beat. They released concept albums such as "Of Cabbages and Kings" (1967) and "Ark" (1968), which were highly praised by critics but not bought by fans.

On television, Chad & Jeremy had guest roles on Batman . In one episode, they played themselves, alongside guest star Julie Newmar as Catwoman . They also appeared in numerous television shows, such as Dick Van Dyke and Patty Duke .

While Jeremy Clyde acted alongside the theater and brought out a solo single, Chad Stuart released a record with his wife Jill Stuart. Tensions between the two increased, and the duo separated in 1968. The soundtrack LP for the film "Three in the Attic" was released in 1969 under the name of the duo, but was actually a solo production by Chad Stuart. Jeremy Clyde switched to acting entirely.

In 1977 Chad & Jeremy regrouped to record a few demo songs; five years later they released a reunion album. The duo still exists in 2007 and will tour the United States together.
