Chadrac Akolo Ababa (born April 1, 1995 in Kinshasa ) is a Congolese football player .

Career

Chadrac Akolo was born in the Zairean capital Kinshasa and followed his parents and siblings in 2009 as a refugee from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Switzerland . He played in the youth team of FC Bex from 2010 and went to FC Sion two years later . In February 2016, Akolo von Sion was awarded to Neuchâtel Xamax in the second-rate Challenge League until the end of the season .

On July 9, 2017 Akolo moved to VfB Stuttgart and signed a contract with the Swabians dated until June 2021. He made his league debut for VfB on August 19, 2017 on the first match day of the 2017/18 season against Hertha BSC . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on September 10, 2017 (3rd matchday) in the 3-1 defeat in the away game against Schalke 04 with the goal to make it 1-1 in the 41st minute.

At the end of July 2019, Akolo moved to the French first division club SC Amiens . It was officially loaned out for a year, after which it is mandatory to buy. Akolo signed a contract with SC Amiens that runs until June 30, 2023.

National team

After Akolo had initially considered changing associations and applied for Swiss citizenship, he finally decided in summer 2017 to play for the national team of the Democratic Republic of the Congo . In qualifying for the 2018 World Cup , he made his international debut against Tunisia on September 5, 2017 and thus made his way for the Congolese national team.
