The Challenger Glacier is a 1.3 km wide glacier on Heard Island . It flows 1.5 km east of the Baudissin Glacier into the eastern section of Corinthian Bay .
Apparently it was discovered during the Gauss expedition (1901–1903) led by the German polar explorer Erich von Drygalski as a single large glacier pouring into Corinthian Bay. Drygalski named it the Baudissin Glacier. Participants in the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions discovered in 1948 that several glaciers flow into the bay. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) recommended in 1954 to use Drygalski's name for the westernmost and largest of these glaciers and named the easternmost in memory of the work of the British Challenger Expedition (1872–1876).
