Phagpa Lha
Chamdo Phagpa Lha ( Tib . : chab mdo 'phags pa lha ) is the title of an important trülku lineage of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism . The traditional seat of the Chamdo Phagpa Lha-Trülkus is the monastery Chamdo Champa Ling (Tib .: chab mdo byams pa gling ) in Chengguan .
history
Phagpa Lha, the first of this reincarnation, was a student of Sempa Chenpo Lodrö Gyeltshen (Tib .: sems pa chen po blo gros rgyal mtshan), who in turn was a student of Tsongkhapa . According to Tibetan and Chinese historical reports, Qing Emperor Kangxi awarded the 6th Phagpa Lha the honorary title of Nuomenhan with a bronze seal in 1719 (i.e. in the 58th year of the Kangxi era). In 1791, Emperor Qianlong's bronze seal was replaced by a silver seal. In 1866 the 9th Phagpa Lha was bestowed the honorary title Khutukhtu , along with the silver seal , by Emperor Tongzhi after helping Qing officials suppress local uprisings . The 8th, 9th and 10th Living Buddha Pagbalhas were all determined by drawing lots from the golden urn.
Phagpa Lha Lobsang Tendzin Geleg Namgyel , who was born in Amdo, has been the 11th Phagpa Lha reincarnation of the Champa Ling monastery (tib .: chab mdo byams pa gling) in Chamdo since 1942 . The 11th Phagpa Lha is vice chairman of the 11th Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People (CPPCC).
