Charles Abram Ellwood
Charles Abram Ellwood (born January 20, 1873 in New York City , † September 25, 1946 ) was an American sociologist and 14th President of the American Sociological Association .
Ellwood studied first at Cornell University and then (after a study tour through Europe) at the University of Chicago , where a sociology degree was already possible. It was there that he received his Ph.D. in 1899. PhD. After a full-time job for a charity in Lincoln, Nebraska , he became Professor of Sociology at the University of Missouri , where he taught for 30 years. Then he moved to Duke University .
Ellwood was one of the leading sociologists in the United States, covering a wide range of subjects in research, teaching, and publications. In 1924 he served as president of the American Sociological Association.
