Charles Avery (artist)

Charles Avery (* 1973 in Oban ) is a Scottish artist .

Life

Avery grew up on the Isle of Mull, off the west coast of Scotland, and moved to London at the age of 20 after two unsuccessful attempts at Edinburgh Art College.

In his sculptures, installations and detailed drawings he has been creating a utopian island world with the capital Onomatopeia, mythical creatures and its own infrastructure and social structure since 2004.

Avery is married and lives in London. He represented Scotland at the 2007 Venice Biennale .
