Several high-ranking literary film adaptations were made by Vitagraph around 1910 under Kent's direction and / or acting . The first film adaptations of Shakespeare's works are significant in terms of film history : Macbeth (1908), Antony and Cleopatra (1908), Romeo and Juliet (1908), Julius Caesar (1908), A Midsummer Night's Dream (1909), Twelfth Night (1910) andAs You Like It (1912). He directed and took on the role of King Arthur in Launcelot and Elaine (1909) .
