Charles Poncet

Charles Poncet (born December 31, 1946 in Geneva ) is a Swiss lawyer and former politician ( LPS ).

biography

Poncet studied law at the University of Geneva . During his student days he became a member of the Swiss Zofinger Association . After internships in Geneva, Zurich, London and Washington DC, he was admitted to the bar in 1972. From 1975 worked for the family-owned law firm Poncet, Turrettini, Amaudruz & Neyroud, and later for Lalive & Budin. He did his doctorate in Geneva. In 1986 Poncet founded his own law firm, ZPG Ziegler Poncet Grumbach Carrard Lüscher, which merged with CMS von Erlach Henrici to form CMS von Erlach Poncet in 2014. zu He specializes in international affairs and arbitration . He has been active in international arbitration for many years, first as secretary of the arbitration tribunal and then as arbitrator, chairman or advisor. He represented the Libyan side in the dispute over the arrest of the ruler's son Hannibal Gaddafi . Poncet is the author of numerous legal publications.

From 1989 to 1996 Poncet sat for the Liberal Party in the National Council and in the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva . He writes and blogs regularly for the weekly magazine L'Hebdo .

Poncet is married and has four children.
