Charles Scorsese

Luciano Charles Scorsese (born May 8, 1913 in New York , † August 23, 1993 there ) was an American actor .

Life

Scorsese was born in New York to Francesco Scorsese (* approx. 1880) and his second wife Teresa, who both immigrated from Italy. Both came from Polizzi Generosa , a small town near Palermo . Charles Scorsese worked as a textile worker for most of his life. He married the textile worker Catherine Scorsese in 1933. One of her sons is the successful director Martin Scorsese , who gave both of them several supporting roles in his films. In 1974 Charles played himself in Italianamerican , a documentary about the Scorsese family. He made his acting debut in Raging Bull in 1980. Probably his best-known role was that of mafia gangster Vinnie in GoodFellas (1990).
