Charles Victor Woirgard

Charles Victor Woirgard , called Charles Victor Beauregard (born October 16, 1764 in Metz , † February 19, 1810 in Valverde del Camino ) was a French général de brigade of the cavalry .

Live and act

Woirgards joined the royal army as a teenager. As a cadet he took part in the Revolutionary Wars and was able to distinguish himself several times through courage and bravery. He followed promotions and at the beginning of the reign of terror (→ French Revolution ) he already had the rank of Général de brigade (April 12, 1793).

When Napoleon was planning his war in Spain , Woirgard took over the leadership of a cavalry brigade (5 e Corps of the Spanish Army). He fought at Talavera (July 27-28, 1809), Ocaña (November 19, 1809) and Alba de Torres (November 26, 1809).

Charles Victor Woirgard was killed in the battle of Valverde on February 19, 1810. He found his final resting place in a mass grave on the edge of the battlefield.
