Charlotte Sophie von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld, Hereditary Princess of Mecklenburg

Charlotte Sophie von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld (born September 24, 1731 in Coburg , † August 2, 1810 in Schwerin ) was a princess of Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld and hereditary princess of Mecklenburg by marriage.

Life

Charlotte Sophie was the eldest daughter of Duke Franz Josias of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1697–1764) from his marriage to Anna Sophia (1700–1780), daughter of Prince Ludwig Friedrich I of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

She married on May 13, 1755 in Schwerin, Hereditary Prince Ludwig of Mecklenburg (1725–1778). On the trip to her wedding, she was accompanied by her brother Friedrich Josias . The marriage was described as happy and Charlotte Sophie was treated with respect even as a widow. Together with her husband, Charlotte Sophie was considered a patron and patron of the arts. She is buried in the Schwerin Shelf Church.
