Charly Beutin (2010)

The Charly Schreckoß Band is a blues band around Rainer "Charly" Beutin , which interprets a mixture of blues-rock , boogie , Cajun and folk blues with German or Low German lyrics.

history

Beutin (* 1951 in Rendsburg ) graduated from secondary school and played and sang in local Low German theater groups as a teenager. In 1978 Beutin founded the Charly Schreckschuß Band in Rendsburg to perform his songs with her. As a talent scout, he has always managed to find some of the best blues editors in the country and bring them together to form a top group. In addition to Beutin (as a singer, guitarist and harmonica player), it initially included musicians such as Andreas Willers , Gebhard Ullmann , Hendrik Schwolow , Horst Schröder , Andreas Kettel and Sönke Hermannsen. As early as 1979/80 the group performed at the Onkel Pö in Hamburg, in 1982 with Katie Webster at the Lahnsteiner Blues Festival .

Four of the band's albums were awarded a German Record Critics' Prize in 1981, 1984, 1987 and 2007 ; however, the band never had a commercial breakthrough. Beutin therefore remained semi-professional and worked full-time as a masseur; the Charly Schreckschuss Band only performs occasionally.

In 2009 the Charly Schreckoß Band played at the Wacken Open Air and shortly afterwards at the Hamburg harbor concert of the NDR. Their concert in 2011 in the Bullentempel in Rendsburg was broadcast completely by NDR2 . In addition to Beutin, Manne Kranski, Eiko Krämer, Bernd Ohnesorge and Jörg Berger are currently members of the band, which is occasionally reinforced by Kai Dorenkamp on accordion and keyboard.
