The Charpentier Pyramid is a pyramid-shaped mountain in the East Antarctic Coatsland . It rises 1,080 m in the northwest section of the Herbert Mountains in the Shackleton Range .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1971 after the German-Swiss glaciologist Johann von Charpentier (1786–1855), who in 1835 provided evidence of the earlier expansion of what were now smaller glaciers.
