The Chase Tower (formerly Bank One Tower or American Fletcher Tower ) is a skyscraper in Indianapolis in the US state of Indiana . After 3 years of construction, it was completed and opened in 1990 . Since then, with an architectural height of 247 meters, it has been the tallest building in Indiana (previously OneAmerica Tower ).
Location, construction and architecture
The building is located in downtown Indianapolis on the famous Monument Circle. After the construction was approved, preparatory work began in the 1980s with the demolition of the remaining buildings, including the Hume-Mansur Building from 1911 . The main roof is at a height of 213 meters, the structural height results from the two almost 40 meter high antennas, only one of which is used for telecommunications, the other merely as decoration. In addition to some restaurants and services, the building has a direct connection to the neighboring Columbia Club. The building was originally intended to serve as the headquarters of the American Fletcher National Bank , which, however, merged with Bank One Corporation before completion . In 2005 the company was bought by JP Morgan Chase and the building was renamed.
