Maria Rosario "Chat" Silayan-Bailon (* 8. July 1959 , † 23. April 2006 in Parañaque City , Metro Manila ) was a Filipino model and actress .

Life

Chat Silyan, daughter of the theater and film actor Vic Silayan, initially worked as a mannequin and won the 1980 beauty contest "Binibining Pilipinas" (Miss Philippines). As such, she then took part in the Miss Universe 1980 election, where she came fourth.

She then began an acting career in the Philippines and over time has become one of the most popular actresses in the country. She made her film debut in 1981 in the film Ang Maestro . She then had film roles in Kamakalawa (1981), Cinq Et La Peau (1982), Kung Tawagin Siya'y Animal (1984), Kailan Tama Ang Mali (1986), The Commander (1988), Dyesebel (1990), Ipaglaban Mo! The Movie Part II (Marta - episode 1) (1997), Esperanza The Movie - Ester (1999), Kung Ako Na Lang Sana (2003) and My First Romance (2003).

In addition to her film roles, she also had several appearances in television series such as Esperanza - Ester from 1997 to 1999 as well as in Student Canteen , Suerte sa Siete and Maalaala Mo Kaya .

In 2003 she finished her work as an actress and got involved in church projects.

Chat Silayan died of complications from colorectal cancer at the age of 46 .
