The Chata Rock ( Spanish Roca Chata for low rock , known in the United Kingdom as Exposure Rock ) is a 3 m high and isolated reef rock in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 800 m south of Cape Lancaster , the southern end of Anvers Island .
The descriptive name of the rock was first recorded on an Argentine map from 1950. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated the Spanish name into English in 1965. The naming made by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1960 alludes to the exposed geographic location of the rock.
