Cheick Tidiane Seck

Cheick Amadou Tidiane Seck (born December 11, 1953 in Ségou ) is a Malian musician ( keyboards , arrangement and composition).

Act

Seck comes from a family of musicians. In the 1970s he was part of the legendary Rail Band , along with Mory Kanté and Salif Keïta , which was based in the Buffet de l'Hotel de la Gare in Bamako . In 1977 he was on stage with Jimmy Cliff . In 1978 he migrated to Abidjan with part of the band ; then he moved to Paris, where he has been working since 1985. He performed there with musicians such as Keïta, Fela Kuti and Youssou N'Dour , and later also with Manu Dibango , Oumou Sangaré , Toumani Diabaté , Amadou & Mariam and Bassekou Kouyaté . He also wrote film scores and released albums under his own name. There are also collaborations with jazz musicians Hank Jones ( Sarala 1995), Dee Dee Bridgewater ( Red Earth ), Joe Zawinul ( My People ) and Graham Haynes ( Griot Footsteps ) as well as with rock musicians such as Damon Albarn ( Rocket Juice & the Moon ).
