José Bienvenido Jiménez Sosa (born August 23, 1968 in New York City - July 24, 2019 ), known as Cherito , was a Dominican singer, songwriter, arranger and composer.

Cherito was a lead singer, composer and arranger with The New York Band from 1988 to 1995 . With 2.5 million albums sold, the band was one of the most successful Latin American bands in the United States, performing in Madison Square Garden in New York, Festival Calle 8 in Miami, Plaza de Toros in Madrid and Anfiteatro Altos de Chavón in La Romana had. Cherito wrote songs like Si tú no estás , Nadie como tú , Dancing mood and Dame vida for the group .

In 1995 he released his first solo album under the name Chery X , which was successful in the USA and South America with titles such as Que Tentaxión (by Braulio Gracía ) and Así es ella .
