Cheyenne Awai (born November 1, 1996 in Arima ) is a cyclist from Trinidad and Tobago . She is probably the only deaf cyclist in the Caribbean (as of 2016).

Athletic career

Cheyenne Awai comes from Arima, where there is an open concrete velodrome that regularly hosts national championships. Awai attended the Cascade School for the Deaf Primary School in Port of Spain and secondary schools in Tunapuna and El Dorado . As a child, she expressed her desire to practice cycling and began training on the Arima Velodrome .

In 2012 and 2014, Awai won the bronze medal at the national junior time trial championship . In 2015 she became national champion in the single pursuit on the track and third in the road race in the year. In 2017 she became national runner-up in the points race .
