Michael Hildebrand

Michael Hildebrand OT , (born July 15, 1433 in Reval , † February 5, 1509 in Rauna ) was Archbishop of Riga from 1484 until his death in 1509 .

Life

Hildebrand came from a family of traders from Reval. After attending school in Reval, he studied law in Leipzig from 1451 . In 1460 he returned to Reval as a Master and worked as a lawyer. In 1477 he became secretary of the Livonian landmaster Bernd von der Borch . In 1480 he was cathedral chapter in Reval. On June 4, 1484 he was appointed Archbishop of Riga. The episcopal ordination donated him on June 13, 1484 Pierre Fridaricus , Bishop of Nisyrus ; Co- consecrators were Bonadias de Nigronibus , Bishop of Isola , and William O'Ferral OCist , Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois .

He was seen as balancing and generous in his administration, and was also closely associated with Wolter von Plettenberg .

He made a family tree for his nephews .
