Cheyyur ( Tamil : செய்யூர் Ceyyūr [ ˈtʃejːuːr ]) is a village in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu with almost 11,000 inhabitants (2011 census).

Cheyyur is located around 100 kilometers south of Chennai (Madras) not far from the coast of the Bay of Bengal . A lagoon, Lake Odiyur, stretches between the town and the seashore . Cheyyur is the capital of the talk Cheyyur in the Kanchipuram district . The place is administered by a village council according to the Panchayat system.

State Highway 115 connects Cheyyur with the East Coast Road , which runs parallel to the coast five kilometers away, and the NH 45 national highway . There are plans to build a power plant with an output of 4,000 megawatts in Cheyyur.
