Chija bar Abba II.
R. Chija bar Abba II. (Also: Chijja II. Bar Abba ; in the Jerusalem Talmud Chija bar Ba or Chija bar Wa ) was a third generation Amora in Palestine and lived and worked in the third and fourth centuries AD.
He came from Babylonia , but like many of his colleagues, he came to Jochanan's school in Tiberias at a young age , where he quickly gained rank and reputation and became a trusted colleague of his teacher. His profound halachic insights, however, paralleled the neglect of Bible study.
He left Palestine and returned to Babylonia because he did not want to live in constant doubt about the question of whether as a priest he was allowed or even required to enjoy the tithe fruits (ma'asser).
Chija was probably the brother of Simeon b. Degradation
