The Chilkat Peninsula ( English Chilkat Peninsula ) is a narrow peninsula running in a north-south direction at the northern end of the Inside Passage in the southeast of the US state Alaska . It separated the bays Chilkoot and Chilkat Inlet in the Lynn Canal and the catchment areas of the Chilkoot and Chilkat rivers .

The town of Haines , with the Haines Highway , a road connection to the Alaska Highway has and its port of ferries of Marine Highways Alaska is under way, is on the northern end for statistical purposes defined settlement area ( census-designated place ) Mud Bay of approximately in the middle Chilkat Peninsula.

Eleven kilometers south of Haines is the Chilkat State Park and in front of the southern tip of the peninsula is the 26.5 km² Chilkat Islands State Marine Park , which consists of a group of small islands .
