Chimène Badi (2012)

Chimène Badi (born October 30, 1982 in Melun ) is a French singer of Algerian descent.

Career

Chimène Badi was born near Paris but grew up in the south of France. She took part in a singing competition for the first time when she was six years old. During her studies she tried unsuccessfully to find a producer with a label with demo recordings. In 2002 she took part in the second season of the talent show Popstars . She didn't make it into the pop stars band, but there she laid the foundation for her solo career. One of the jurors, Valéry Zeitoun, signed her to his AZ label . Their first single, Entre nous , was released on January 27, 2003 and immediately became a number one hit in France, and in Belgium and Switzerland it made it into the top 5 of their respective charts. The song sold over a million times in French-speaking countries. Her debut album of the same name was released on March 11, 2003 and was also successful in all three countries. In France, like the single, it achieved platinum status .

On June 21, 2003 Badi presented her second single Je vais te chercher in front of 100,000 spectators on the Champs-Élysées . She then went on tour in support of Johnny Hallyday . In December 2003, the third single from the album Entre nous was released: Si j'avais su t'aimer .

On June 22, 2004, the single Le jour d'après was released , which she had recorded for the soundtrack of the film of the same name. It became her second top 10 success.

The second album by Chimène Badi with the name Dis-moi que tu m'aimes followed on October 12, 2004. It also reached number one in the French album charts and even got a diamond record for half a million copies sold. It was also successful in Belgium and Switzerland and was awarded platinum and gold respectively. The sound carrier contains 15 chansons . This album also features the title Je viens du sud , a cover version of the song by Michel Sardou . She had interpreted this song a few months earlier in the motto show La chanson numéro 1 . It reached number 2 in France and Belgium, making it their second most successful single.

In 2006 her first live album was released, which was recorded at the Paris Olympia , before her third studio album Le miroir followed that same year . Both albums made it into the top 3 of the French album charts. However, only the single Tellement beau made it into the charts.

A longer hiatus followed before returning in 2010 with the album Laisse-les dire . The album Gospel & Soul followed just a year later, with cover versions of English and French classics. During this time she only appeared under her first name Chimène . Both albums reached the top 10 again in France and French-speaking Belgium. In 2012 she took part in the third season of the dance show Danse avec les stars .

Another long break followed, after which she returned in 2015 as Chimène Badi and the album Au-delà des maux .
