history

Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea was founded in 1946 as Vâlceana Râmnicu Vâlcea . He played in the third highest Romanian football league, the Divizia C , in the first year of its existence . A short time later, the club changed its name to CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea (in German workers' sports club ). Since the Divizia C was only played irregularly at the time, CSM played - apart from the 1948/49 season - in regional leagues. With the reintroduction of the Divizia C in 1956, the club, which is now under the name belonged Flamura Roşie Ramnicu Valcea took the league again and played from now on for promotion to the Divizia B . After further name changes inUnirea Râmnicu Vâlcea (1957) and Șantierul Govora (1958) played the team from 1960 under the name Chimia Govora in Divizia B.

The club belonged to the second highest Romanian league for ten years without interruption. During this time he was always able to place himself in the middle of his season. After further name changes to Unirea Râmnicu Vâlcea (1962) and Oltul Râmnicu Vâlcea (1965; named after the river Olt on which Râmnicu Vâlcea lies), he adopted the name Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea in 1967 , under which he should celebrate his greatest successes.

After relegation to Divizia C in 1970 and immediate resurgence, the most successful two decades in the club's history followed. The greatest success came in 1973, when the club moved into the Romanian Cup final and defeated the Constructorul Galați , which only played in Divizia C, in a duel between two outsiders . After this success, Chimia took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup in the following season , but where it was the last stop in the first round against Glentoran FC from Northern Ireland. In the same season the first-time jump in the highest Romanian football league that managed Divizia A .

After the immediate relegation at the end of the 1974/75 season , it took three years before the return to the House of Lords succeeded. This time the company turned out to be far more successful than Chimia could last for nine years. The best placement during this period was eighth in the 1981/82 season . After relegation at the end of the 1986/87 season , the club initially fought in vain for a few years for promotion before gradually slipping into the relegation battle.

After being renamed FC Râmnicu Vâlcea in 1994, he rose to Divizia C in 1996, before being relegated again in 1998 and the associated drop in fourth division. In 2004 the club finally disbanded due to financial problems. The sporting successor is CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea , who has played in Divizia B since 2005.
