Chipinge , also chip Inga or Chapina, named after a resident traditional chief, is a town in the province of Manicaland in Zimbabwe . It has about 25,000 inhabitants (2012 census) and is located in a valley in the Eastern Highlands near the border with Mozambique .
Chipinge is near the Chimanimani Mountains. The river Buzi has its source near the city .
Mainly Ndebele live in Chipinge . The city can be reached from Mutare by road. The climate is hot and humid (1,105 mm average annual rainfall), which favors agriculture. The farmers plant tea, coffee and macademia nuts. There is a school, a hospital and a 1,000 meter long runway.
Chipinga had a dairy farm until 1976. Dairy farming has largely disappeared since coffee growing expanded due to a breeding station located here.
