Chirine Njeim

Chirine Njeim (born October 4, 1984 in Beirut ) is a Lebanese ski racer and athlete .

Career

Njeim was born the daughter of a chemical merchant. She started alpine skiing at the age of three. As a young girl, she moved to France for a few years to train and finally to Salt Lake City , where she attended the Rowmark Ski Academy .

From 1999 she contested her first FIS races in the United States . In 2002 she took part in the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City as the second woman after Farida Rahmed for Lebanon and was the flag bearer of her delegation at the opening ceremony.

Due to constant performances in the races for the Nor-Am Cup , in which she finished seven times in the top ten in 2005 and 2006, she also qualified for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

In 2009 she was registered for the World Cup , but did not start.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , she started in the marathon , where she finished 109th.
