Surgical school in Hanover

The Surgical School in Hanover was a medical educational institution especially for - male - at least 16 years old young people who had not previously obtained a full higher education qualification or had not completed any other professional training. After passing the entrance exam, intermediate exams were held in the summer semesters in the presence of members of the Ephorate and public intermediate exams in the winter semesters. The privately financed training took a total of three years. Subsequently, the graduates were able to work in the medical field under the direction of doctors and surgeons.

history

In Hannover for the entire Kingdom of Hanover acting Surgical School took 31 October 1825 its operation. This general surgical school for the kingdom emerged from the amalgamation of two older similar institutions: the Collegium anatomicum chirurgicum , which had also previously been established in Hanover, and the Celler surgical school previously established in Celle . Both institutes were closed in favor of the Hannover Surgical School, which went into operation in 1825.
