The Choiseul Sound [ ˌtʃɔɪzəl ˈsaʊnd ] ( Spanish seno Choiseul ) is an arm of the sea in the Falkland Islands , which partially separates Lafonia and the north of East Falkland . Lively Island is in its estuary. A headland at Goose Green and Darwin separates it from Grantham Sound, which is part of the Falklandsund . Choiseul Sound is home to Goose Green, Darwin, Walker Creek , Lively Settlement on Lively Island and Mare Harbor . It was named by Louis de Bougainville after the French Foreign Minister Étienne-François de Choiseul . Port Pleasant Bay was a theater of war in 1914 ( World War I ) and 1982 ( Falklands War ).
