The Chondroblastoma (also Codman tumor called) is a benign form of bone tumor . It usually arises on the epiphysis of the long tubular bones . The most common locations are the lower end of the femur and the upper end of the tibia .

The slowly growing tumor occasionally causes pain and effusions in the adjacent joint. Although it is considered a “benign” tumor, lung metastases can be seen in some patients .

Histologically, this sharply demarcated tumor shows chondroblast-like cells and giant cells .

The therapy is usually carried out surgically by clearing out the tumor and, if necessary, filling the defect with cancellous plastic . Subsequent recurrences or malignant degeneration are rare.
