The Chow Tai Fook Center is a 530 m high skyscraper in the Chinese city of Guangzhou .
description
At the beginning of the project, it was planned as the East Tower , a twin tower of the already existing Guangzhou International Finance Center . However, this project was rejected: The East Tower with the name Chow Tai Fook Center, named after a Chinese jewelry chain, was built and is part of the complex, but with a completely different design. The building now planned by Kohn Pedersen Fox has 111 floors and is 530 meters high. It is only 11 meters lower than the One World Trade Center in New York City . Similar to the Guangzhou International Finance Center, the high-rise houses offices and a hotel. Since its completion in 2016, the Chow Tai Fook Center has been the tallest building in the city.
The skyscraper is not to be confused with the one in Tianjin under construction Tianjin Binhai Chow Tai Fook Center , which will also be 530 meters high.
construction
In spring 2010, the preparation of the construction site began. Construction began on July 28, 2010 when the first construction crane was erected and foundation work began. In December 2010 the construction work was stopped and the construction machines were removed. The reasons why the construction was stopped was not mentioned. In October 2011, however, construction work resumed, so two construction cranes were erected. In January 2012 the building core reached street level. In March 2012, the construction of the above-ground floors began. It reached its final height in summer 2014. In October 2016 the skyscraper was completed.
