Chris Black (athlete)
Chris Black (actually Christopher Francis Black; born January 1, 1950 in Edinburgh ) is a former British hammer thrower .
In 1974 he finished sixth for Scotland at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch . At the European Athletics Championships in Rome , he came in twelfth place.
At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he was seventh.
In 1978 he won bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton and failed in qualifying at the European Championships in Prague .
At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, he did not get past the first round.
At the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, he won bronze again. In 1983 he was eliminated at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in the preliminary round, and in 1986 he was eighth at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh .
In hammer throw he was three times English champion (1976, 1977, 1983), twice British champion (1978, 1979) and ten times Scottish champion (1971–1977, 1981, 1985, 1986). In 1972 he was also the Scottish Champion in the shot put .
