Chris Burgess (born October 22, 1981 ) is an American skeleton athlete .

Chris Burgess lives in Glen Gardner . He started skeleton in 2005 and has been a member of the US national team since 2006. After training and qualification races in 2006, he contested his first races in the performance area in November of that year. He made his debut in a race of the Skeleton America's Cup and was 16th of a race in Calgary . In December he achieved a top ten result for the first time in Lake Placid in eighth place. In 2007 , Burgess also competed in the first races in the European Skeleton Cup . The best result there was an eighth place in Winterberg. In January 2008 , Burgess competed for the first time in a race in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup , in which he was 15th in Calgary. Towards the end of the 2007/08 season he achieved a podium finish for the first time in Lake Placid with third place. In the overall standings of the season, the American finished second behind Yūki Sasahara . The following season he did not contest his first races until the end of the season in Lake Placid. He won the first in front of Luke Schulz , in the second he was second behind him. In his seven races of the 2009/10 season he finished second and third five times and was again, this time behind Kyle Tress , second overall in the America's Cup.
