Chris Carter (screenwriter)
Chris Carter (born October 13, 1956 in Bellflower , California ) is an American producer and screenwriter best known for his television series The X Files - The Scary Cases of the FBI .
Life
Chris Carter grew up in Los Angeles as the son of a construction worker. In 1979 he graduated from California State University with a degree in literature . In 1985 he began writing television scripts for Disney . During this time he also wrote some scripts for series for the television station NBC . In 1992 he switched to Fox and was now allowed to produce series himself. His first series The X Files - The FBI's Scary Cases (1993) became an instant global hit. His second mystery series Millennium after the X-Files was also successful, although the success never came close to the X-Files . The series Harsh Realm and The Lonely Shooters (a spin-off from the X-Files ) flopped against it. In 2008 he directed the X-Files - Beyond Truth, the second feature film in the series. The film marks his debut as a feature film director, having previously directed a total of ten episodes of the X-Files .
Chris Carter now lives in Malibu .
