Chris Cheney (born January 2, 1975 in Melbourne ) is an Australian guitarist and front man of the Australian rock band The Living End .

Life

Cheney attended Jells Park Primary School at Wheelers Hill , Melbourne and Wheelers Hill Secondary College. He later studied jazz .

Career

Cheney's career began in the 1990s with the Melbourne cover band The Runaway Boys , where he played with bassist Scott Owen .

The Living End

In 1994 Cheney and Owen produced their own songs. They founded The Living End and after 2 EPs released their debut album of the same name in 1998, whose single Second Solution / Prisoner of Society brought them their first success.

This and that

On December 17, 2005, Chris Cheney played on stage at the Telstra Dome with Green Day on the song I Fought For Law , which was written by Sonny Curtis of The Crickets and was later covered by The Clash .

In 2003 Chris Cheney played a song by The Clash as a tribute to Joe Strummer with Australian rock veterans You Am I at the Big Day Out festival in Melbourne .

His guitar is a Gretsch " White Falcon ".
