Christopher David "Chris" Cohen (born March 5, 1987 in Norwich ) is a former English soccer player who last played for Nottingham Forest .

Athletic career

West Ham United

Chris Cohen was inducted into West Ham United Youth Academy at the age of six . At the age of 16 he ran on December 13, 2003 for the first time for West Ham in the Football League Championship . This made him the youngest player in 80 years to play for West Ham United's first team. During the season he came to six more missions for his team, which finished fourth in the end, but did not make it to the Premier League . In the 2004/05 season Cohen played a total of 14 competitive games for United and was able to celebrate promotion to the Premier League with his team at the end of the season.

Yeovil Town

Due to the now first class of his team, Cohen saw his chances of employment reduced and was loaned to the Football League One club Yeovil Town . He got along well in his new team, played 31 league games and scored one goal. Since his situation in West Ham had not changed, Cohen signed a two-year contract in Yeovil at the beginning of the 2006/07 season . There he quickly developed into a leading player and scored six goals in 44 league games.

Nottingham Forest

In July 2007, Cohen joined Nottingham Forest with Arron Davies for £ 1.2 million . Chris Cohen signed for four years and quickly got on in Nottingham . He only missed the first five games of the season due to an injury from preparation, then he played all the competitive games of the 2007/08 season and thus had his share in the promotion to the Football League Championship .

Also in the Football League Championship 2008/09 Cohen (41 games / 2 goals) got by brilliantly and was voted Player of the Season by the Nottingham fans at the end of the season. Due to his consistently good performance, his contract was extended until 2013. Due to the relegation last year, Nottingham played again in the second highest league in 2009/10 and just barely missed promotion as third in the table. Chris Cohen made 44 league appearances and scored three goals. In the 2010/11 season Cohen (42 games / 2 goals) reached the play-off semi-finals again, but failed prematurely as in the previous year. After Blackpool FC prevailed in the previous year , Forest lost in 2011 against the later promoted Swansea City .

On October 8, 2012, Chris Cohen signed a new contract in Nottingham, valid until 2016.

After persistent injury problems, Cohen ended his active career at the end of the 2017/18 season .
