Christopher "Chris" Hamilton (born May 18, 1995 in Bendigo ) is an Australian cyclist .

Athletic career

Chris Hamilton started out as a mountain biker before focusing on road cycling .

In 2016 he was the Australian U23 road racing champion, won the junior ranking and finished eighth in the overall ranking of the Herald Sun Tour , finished the Tour de Taiwan in seventh overall and the Tour Down Under in fourteen.

For the 2017 season he switched to the UCI WorldTeam Sunweb and competed in his first Grand Tour at the Vuelta a España , which he finished in 121st place. The following year he was sixth in the road race of the elite at the Australian Championships. At the Tour Down Under he was sixteenth overall and fifth in the junior ranking, and he finished the Tour of Slovenia in 12th place. His team also included him in the squad for the Giro d'Italia , which he placed 103rd could finish. Later in the season he was ninth overall in the Tour of Britain .
