Chris Jones (athlete)
Chris Jones (born October 8, 1973 ) is a former American athlete , whose specialty was the 400-meter run .
Sporting controversy
Jones celebrated his supposedly greatest sporting success at the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 , when he was the first to finish the 4-by-400-meter relay together with Jerome Young , Antonio Pettigrew and Tyree Washington . With 2: 56.47 minutes the Americans were originally ahead of the teams from Great Britain around Roger Black (2: 56.65 min), the national record running team from Jamaica (2: 56.75 min) and Poland (3: 00.26 min). Due to a doping scandal by Antonio Pettigrew , the US season that was originally named world champion was subsequently disqualified in 2009.
