Christopher "Chris" Lawless (born November 4, 1995 in Wigan ) is a British cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2013 Chris Lawless was British junior road racing champion and won a stage of the Trofeo Karlsberg .

In the following year he was together with Germain Burton, Christopher Latham and Oliver Wood British championship elite in the team pursuit on the track . For 2015 Lawless received his first contract with an international cycling team with Team Wiggins . The following year he won a stage of the New Zealand Cycle Classic . In 2017 he won the ZLM Tour and one stage each of the Tour de l'Avenir and the Tour de Beauce .

In 2018 Chris Lawless switched to UCI WorldTeam Sky and this year won two stages and the points evaluation of the Settimana Internazionale . In May 2019, he became the first Briton to win the Tour de Yorkshire overall standings , two seconds ahead of second, Belgian Greg Van Avermaet . This was also the first victory of his team after they were renamed Team Ineos on May 1st .
