Christ the King was the Roman Catholic Church in Rönnebeck , in the district of Blumenthal in Bremen . The church, profaned since June 2019 , bore the patronage of Christ the King (Christ Rex) and was located at Dillener Str. 112. The church belonged to the parish of St. Marien (Bremen-Blumenthal) in the dean's office of Bremen-Nord of the Diocese of Hildesheim .

history

The first Catholic service in Rönnebeck was celebrated as early as 1850 in the Montag family's house at Dillener Str. 81, later services were held in the attic of the Zur Linde inn . Since 1890, the number of Catholics increased due to industrialization.

On June 29, 1930, the Church of Christ König was consecrated by the Paderborn prelate Schäfers, as one of the first churches with this patronage after Pope Pius XI set up the Christ the King . in 1925. In 1952 the rectory was built, and in 1971 the church building was expanded. In 1978 the parish was elevated to a parish . In 1988 the parish hall was built.

Since November 1st, 2006 the church belonged to the parish of St. Marien , the parish of Christ König was dissolved in this context. In 2016, Caritas took over the parish home and set up the St. Nicolai crèche there . On June 28, 2019, the church was profaned by Auxiliary Bishop Heinz-Günter Bongartz , the church building is to be taken over by the neighboring crèche.
