Christa Mayer (* around 1972 in Sulzbach-Rosenberg ) is a German opera singer ( alto / mezzo-soprano ).

Life

During her school days, Christa Mayer was supported by the Bavarian Singing Academy. She then studied with Thomas Moser at the Munich Music Academy and completed master classes with Hans Hotter , Francisco Araiza and Irwin Gage .

Since 2001 she has been a member of the ensemble of the Saxon State Opera Dresden (Semperoper) . Guest performances have taken her to the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Bavarian State Opera , the Rheingau Music Festival , the Kissinger Sommer and the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg as well as the opera houses in Hamburg, Venice, Munich, Florence, Barcelona, ​​Bilbao and Seville. In 2008 she made her debut at the Bayreuth Festival as Erda and Waltraute in the Ring des Nibelungen . In 2015 she made her debut at the New National Theater Tokyo as Erda in a new production of Das Rheingold .
