Christa collector

Christa Collector (born December 23, 1932 in Breslau ) is a German sculptor .

Career

Christa Collector received drawing lessons from Alfred Herzog in Bautzen from 1948 to 1951 . In 1951 she graduated from high school. 1951 to 1956 he studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts with Walter Arnold . From 1956 to 1958 she was a master class student at the Academy of Arts of the GDR with Gustav Seitz . Collector was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR from 1958 to 1990 . Since 1958 she has been working freelance in Berlin .

In addition to working as a sculptor, she campaigned for the rescue and preservation of historical buildings and sculptures (Potsdam: Dutch Quarter, Marstall. Berlin: New Museum, old building facades).

As a member of the board of the Gesellschaft Historisches Berlin e. V. (GHB) in 2001, with the endorsement of the President of the House of Representatives Walter Momper, she successfully campaigned for a meaningful location for the monument to Freiherr vom Stein in front of the Berlin House of Representatives.

She traveled to Czechoslovakia , the Soviet Union , Hungary , Poland , Bulgaria , Yugoslavia , Greece , Italy , France , Switzerland and Belgium . The artistic estate of Christa Collector is now in the Winckelmann Museum in Stendal .
