Christer Bothén

Christer Bothén (born September 13, 1941 in Trollhättan ) is a Swedish jazz musician ( bass clarinet , double bass clarinet , also Gimbri , Doussou N'Goni ) and visual artist.

Bothén worked in the Swedish group of Don Cherry in the early 1970s , with whom he also recorded several albums. From the mid-1970s belonged to the groups Spjärnsvallet and Archimedes Badkar , with whom records were made. In the early 1980s he was a member of Bengt Berger's Bitter Funeral Beer Band ; with her and Don Cherry he was involved in the 1982 album of the same name for ECM ; in the same year he performed with this band at the German Jazz Festival in Frankfurt. Together with the group Bolon Bata , Bothén presented the albums Trance Dance and Mother Earth from 1984 ; The Spirit of Milvus Milvus followed under his own name in 1996 , Seven Pieces in 2001 and in 2006 in the Trio Triolos . As a soloist on the low clarinets, he performed at the Météo Festival in Mulhouse in 2016 . In addition, he was also active on other instruments in the xylophone orchestra , with which he presented the album Stora Bla in 2014 .

In recent years he has been a member of Mats Gustafsson's Nu Ensemble ( Hidros6 Knockin ' ), and he has also worked with Tisha Mukerji and Wilhelm Bromander. With Berger- Knutsson - Spering as well as Neneh and Eagle-Eye Cherry he recorded the tribute album “See You in a Minute” with music from Don Cherry. He can also be heard on albums by Mari Boine , Prins Lätt, the Fire Orchestra , Neneh Cherry & The Thing ( The Cherry Thing ), Goran Kajfeš and Sara Lunden.
