Goran Kajfeš (born June 22, 1970 in Tyresö ) is a Swedish jazz and fusion musician ( trumpet , composition ).

Kajfeš is the son of the Croatian pianist and composer Davor Kajfeš . At the age of ten he began to play the trumpet, initially concentrating on classical music and only later opting for jazz. Between 1993 and 1995 he studied at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen.

Kajfeš has recorded several solo albums under his own name. The first, Home , was released on Blue Note . The album was very successful and was nominated for a Swedish Grammis . On the tour associated with this project, he shared the stage with well-known players such as Nils Petter Molvær , Bugge Wesseltoft and Wibutee . Goran's second album, Headspin , won a Swedish Grammis for Best Jazz Album of 2004. He then toured Europe, Morocco and Mexico with his band Headspin . The third album X / Y (2010), published in a book in portrait format, which contained two CDs as well as various reproductions of works of art by Ulf Rollof , Moki Cherry and Bigert & Bergström , was not only declared Jazz Album of the Year by The Independent , but also received the Nordic Music Prize awarded in Oslo in 2012 . He then produced his fusion albums (with Goran Kajfeš Subtropic Arkestra) The Reason Why Vol. 1 (2012), The Reason Why Vol. 2 (2014) and most recently The Reason Why Vol. 3 (2017, Swedish Grammis). Most recently he worked with his hypnojazz quartet Tropiques , which also won a Grammis.

Kajfeš is also a member of the jazz band Oddjob (with Per “Ruskträsk” Johansson and Daniel Karlsson), which has released nine albums so far, including the Swedish Grammis-awarded Folk , the Grand Prix du Disque and the Swedish Grammis-awarded children's album Jazzoo and most recently Jazzoo 2 .

Kajfeš is also a member of the free jazz band Nacka Forum (Moserobie Records) with Kresten Osgood , Jonas Kullhammar and Johan Berthling . He also belongs to Winkel 9, Fire! Orchestra, Pan-Scan-Ensemble, Magic Spirit Quartet , Magnus Carlson & The Moon Ray Quintet , Creation Jobalites and Majid Bekka's Magic Spirit Quartet.

Kajfeš has performed and recorded with many artists, including José Gonzáles, Eagle-Eye Cherry , Mando Diao , Stina Nordenstam , Robyn , Christian Kjellvander , Monica Zetterlund , Moneybrother , Lester Bowie and Jimmy Cobb , Titiyo , Lisa Ekdahl , Janet Jackson , Sting, and The Soundtrack of Our Lives .

Kajfeš has also composed and performed music for film and television. These include a documentary by Swedish director Kristian Petri The Well about Orson Welles' time in Spain and soundtracks for the films Hoy no se fía, mañana sí (2008), Havana Motor Club (2015) and Den sommaren (2017). He can also be heard as a trumpeter in the score for The Hundred Years Old Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared . He also created the music for an audio book by the Swedish writer Fredrik Lindström .
